Settling in, gently
Every child is different, so there's no fixed timetable for settling in. We go at your child's pace and only move on when they're happy.
A little more each time
Step 1
All About Me
Before your child's first session, you'll fill in an 'All About Me' profile on Eylog. It tells us about their medical needs, allergies, eating, sleep and nap routines, toileting, interests and anything else that helps us know them from the start.
Step 2
Meet the Key Person
On your first visit, you'll meet your child's Key Person. They will be your main point of contact. They'll go through the All About Me profile with you and explain our daily routine. Please allow about 30 minutes.
Step 3
A short time apart
At first, we may ask you to stay while your child gets to know the room. Then they'll spend a short time, about 30 minutes, without you.
Step 4
Building up
If your child is comfortable, the next session may be half a day. From there, we build up gradually to a full day.
We only move to a full day once we're confident your child is completely settled and comfortable.
Throughout, we'll work closely with you, keep you updated and give your child the time, patience and reassurance they need to feel happy, safe and confident at nursery.
